CAPPA was delighted to help two budding young scientists as part of their work for the Unge Forskere, the Danish Young Scientist Competition. The project entitled “From Fish to Fork – Ingestion of Microplastics by commercial fish off the Irish South Coast” was conducted by Rachel Cotter and Jack Mullen of Colaiste Muire Crosshaven. The aim of their project was to assess the extent to which research represents microplastic presence in fish gastrointestinal tracts from Irish water. CAPPA conducted some IR measurements to confirm the student’s data that the material they were focusing on was plastic. Unge Forskere, the Danish Young Scientist competition took place in the Bella Center Copenhagen from the 28th to the 30th of April. Before this the students took part in the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) 2019, which took place from the 9th to 12th of January, where they came second in the intermediate group.
